Virtual Column 2 Basics
There are two operational modes for Virtual Column 2. When the program starts a Virtual Column 2 Wizard is presented which steps the user through the process of selecting a database, choosing the analytes to be simulated, entering values for the peak areas, asymmetry values, void time and column efficiency.
Once the wizard is complete, the program begins the simulation and presents the user with a resolution response surface and a virtual chromatogram. Scroll bars are then used to select an eluent condition and Virtual Column 2 will display the virtual chromatogram for the selected eluent.
Full documentation for this program is included with the free download or view a PDF version online by clicking on this link (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
Virtual Column 2 can also calculate the optimum eluent condition based either on the resolution criteria or retention time (fastest chromatogram).
Limitations of the Education and Training Edition
The Education and Training Edition of Virtual Column 2 is strictly limited to the AS4A-SC and AS11 columns, which use carbonate and hydroxide eluents respectively. Because of this limitation the Education and Training Edition has no find best column feature. Otherwise this version is fully functional.
